Explore Our Wooden Shelving Collections
Our shelving collection includes a range of floating shelves, bracket shelves and bathroom shelving designed to suit different spaces, wall types and interior styles.
Rather than taking a one-style-fits-all approach, each collection has been developed around a specific use within the home, whether that’s creating a cleaner floating look, adding more rustic character or supporting heavier bathroom installations.
Oak Floating Shelves
Designed for a cleaner and more streamlined appearance, our oak floating shelves are made from solid European oak with concealed supports hidden within the shelf itself.
They work particularly well in contemporary interiors, alcoves, kitchens and living spaces where a more minimal finish is preferred. With a substantial solid oak construction and a wide range of finishes available, they create a stronger and more premium look than thinner veneered alternatives.
Pine Floating Shelves
Our pine floating shelves offer a softer and lighter alternative to oak while maintaining the same floating appearance.
The lighter grain and more understated finish make pine shelving especially popular within Scandinavian-inspired interiors, painted spaces and smaller rooms where heavier timber can sometimes feel too dominant.
Oak Shelves With Brackets
For a more structured and traditional shelving style, our oak shelves with brackets combine solid timber shelving with exposed metal supports.
Unlike floating shelves where the fixings remain hidden, bracket shelving becomes a more visible part of the room itself, helping introduce additional texture and architectural detail. These shelves are particularly popular in kitchens, pantries and more industrial-inspired interiors.
Rustic Shelves With Brackets
Our rustic shelves with brackets are designed to create a more aged and character-led appearance. Available in oak, pine and Scandinavian redwood, these shelves feature more textured timber finishes paired with visible metal brackets to suit farmhouse kitchens, cottage interiors and rustic living spaces.
Darker finishes such as Walnut, Jacobean and Rugger Brown are especially popular for creating a warmer and more traditional look.
Shelves for Plasterboard Walls
Our shelves for plasterboard walls are designed specifically for lighter wall types using specialist concealed supports and Gripit fixings.
These shelves provide strong support while maintaining a clean floating appearance, making them particularly well suited to modern homes where solid masonry walls are not always available.
Sink Shelves and Floating Basin Shelves
Designed for bathrooms, ensuites and cloakrooms, our sink shelves support countertop basins while creating a cleaner and more space-conscious alternative to traditional vanity furniture.
Finished for long-term moisture resistance, they are available in oak, pine and redwood with made to measure sizing available for more specific bathroom layouts.
Why Choose Traditional Beams Wooden Shelves?
Handcrafted in North Yorkshire
Every shelf is handcrafted in our North Yorkshire workshop using traditional woodworking techniques and carefully selected timber. Rather than mass-produced shelving, each piece is prepared to order, allowing greater attention to detail, finish quality and overall consistency.
Solid Timber Construction
We use solid oak, pine and Scandinavian redwood throughout our shelving collection that provides:
- Greater durability
- More natural grain and texture
- A more substantial feel once installed
- Long-term character as the timber settles over time
Because every shelf is made from real wood, natural variation in grain, knots and tone will always be present.
Made to Measure Options
Not every space works with standard shelf sizes. We offer made to measure shelving across much of the collection, helping create a cleaner and more tailored fit for:
- Alcoves
- Feature walls
- Bathrooms
- Kitchens
- Non-standard spaces
Custom sizing also helps avoid unnecessary cutting or adjustments once the shelf arrives.
A Wide Range of Finishes
Our shelves are available in a range of finishes designed to suit both contemporary and traditional interiors, including;
- White
- Light Oak
- Antique Pine
- Medium Oak
- Rugger Brown
- Walnut
- Jacobean
- Black
Each finish is designed to enhance the natural character of the timber while helping protect the surface for everyday use.
Sustainably Sourced Timber
We use responsibly sourced timber selected for durability, consistency and long-term use within the home. Our workshop follows a low-waste approach wherever possible, with offcuts and unused timber reused responsibly throughout the production process.
Choosing the Right Wooden Shelves
The right shelving will depend on how the shelf will be used, the wall type and the overall style of the room. Floating shelves are often chosen for cleaner and more minimal interiors where a streamlined appearance is preferred.
Bracket shelving tends to suit more rustic, industrial or traditional spaces where the shelf itself becomes more of a visible design feature. Bathroom and basin shelving may require additional considerations around moisture resistance, basin weight and plumbing layouts.
It’s also important to consider:
- Shelf depth and proportion
- Wall type and fixing method
- Intended weight load
- Timber finish and colour
- The overall balance within the room
If you’re unsure which shelving style is best for your space, our team can help advise on the most suitable option. Many customers also use shelving alongside other timber features throughout the home, including oak beams, oak fireplace beams and oak window beams. This helps create a more cohesive finish between shelving, fireplaces and architectural details.
Wooden Shelves Care and Maintenance
Our wooden shelves are generally low maintenance once installed. Regular dusting with a soft cloth is usually enough for everyday care. Shelves finished with oils or waxes may occasionally benefit from maintenance to help preserve the finish and protect the timber surface over time.
As with all natural timber products, small variations in grain, tone and movement are completely normal and form part of the character of real wood.
