Our oak window boards are expertly machined and hand-finished in-house from the highest quality kiln-dried European oak. Crafted using full-length staves between 75–160mm wide, each board is professionally laminated to create a strong, durable structure that’s built to last.

With a 32mm standard thickness and a smooth 180-grit sanded finish, our oak window sills deliver both substance and style. The oak we use is known for its unique grain patterns and rich colour variation, giving every board a one-of-a-kind look.

Whether you’re upgrading a listed cottage or modernising a new build, these oak window sills are a classic finishing detail that suits both contemporary and traditional homes.

Beautifully Made Oak Window Sills for Every Room

An oak window sill isn’t just a functional ledge-it’s a warm, natural feature that can elevate the character of any space. Whether framing a large bay window, styling a cosy reading nook, or finishing a bathroom with something more refined than MDF or plastic, our solid oak window boards are crafted to impress.

Why Choose Our Oak Window Boards?

Expertly crafted in-house

Every oak window board is handmade in our North Yorkshire workshop by skilled craftsmen. Each one is built from full-length solid oak staves, professionally laminated to ensure strength and structural integrity.

Premium finishing process

Each board is carefully sanded to a 180-grit smooth finish, ready to be oiled or finished to suit your space. This high-quality surface brings out the grain detail and ensures a professional, tactile result.

Solid European oak

We use only kiln-dried, character-grade European oak-never veneer or MDF. Expect natural grain variation, distinctive markings, and colour depth that only real wood can offer.

Refinishable and long-lasting

Our oak window sills can be re-sanded and re-oiled over time. Whether you're freshening up a space or adapting to new décor, they’re designed to evolve with your home.

Sustainably sourced timber

All of our oak is responsibly harvested from FSC or PEFC-certified suppliers, ensuring every board supports ethical forestry practices. We run a zero-waste workshop, repurposing all off-cuts to fuel our biomass heating, and proudly plant more trees than we use, helping to restore woodland and protect the environment for future generations.

What to Consider When Buying an Oak Window Sill

Size & thickness

Standard thickness is 32mm, with depths and lengths available to suit most window styles. Allow for a 20–30mm overhang beyond the finished wall for the best visual balance.

Edge profiles

Choose from a clean, modern square edge or a traditional bullnose front. We can also advise on matching existing sills or achieving a seamless fit with new windows.

Bathrooms & kitchens

Our oak window boards are suitable for moisture-prone areas when correctly sealed. In kitchens or bathrooms, apply a high-quality worktop oil before installation and maintain with annual re-oiling.

Window sill cladding

Use our boards as oak sill covers if you're updating an existing timber, tile, or damaged sill. The clean finish and natural material help elevate the look with minimal disruption.

  • Avoid exposing newly finished boards to water for at least five days while curing.

Maintenance & Care

  • Re-oil once or twice a year, depending on exposure.
  • Wipe spills immediately, especially in kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Avoid leaving wet plant pots or metal tins directly on the sill.
  • Clean with a wood-safe product; avoid strong detergents or abrasives.
  • Lightly sand and reapply oil if the finish begins to dull or wear.
