Our Timber

SUSTAINABILITY
We always use oak sourced from sustainably managed forests who are FSC or PEFC certified. We also plant 1 tree for every £50 spent with us. For our oak shelves, this equates to planting on average 135 trees for every 1 used.

CRACKS & MOVEMENT
Our solid oak floating shelves are handcrafted from the finest quality kiln dried European oak ensuring stability in your home. We have a couple of air dried oak shelves in our range for a further rustic appearance, these are well air dried ensuring minimal movement once installed in your home. If you fit the shelves near a heat source (such as above a radiator) some movement may be expected. Some shelves may have fine cracks which may be filled with filler before the final coat of stain and wax is applied depending on their size.
OTHER DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Oak is a natural product, therefore knots, colour, grain pattern and other distinguishing features can vary. Each shelf is completely unique! We aim to manufacture our solid oak floating shelves to the highest possible standard. In order to minimise waste, we may manufacture floating shelves from two or more pieces of timber to create the required depth. By following strict industry standard techniques, this does not detract from the overall quality and actually results in further stability.
SIZE TOLERANCE
We work to a tolerance of  +/- 5mm.  If you need a length smaller than a standard size, please order the next length up and leave a note in checkout to cut it down. Please note, this will make the item non-returnable.  Need something more bespoke? Get in touch for a quote.

WEIGHT TOLERANCE
Our solid wall fixings have the capacity to hold up to 35kg of weight between 2 fixings. This includes the weight of the shelf. Longer lengths come with more fixings. Our plasterboard fixings are suitable for plasterboard between 9-15mm thick - 2 fixings (2 T brackets and 4 Gripit fixings) can hold up to 20kg of weight including the weight of the shelf. This is a guide only - condition of the wall, shelf placement, weight distribution and shelf depth all affect the weight capacity.

Please note none of the above can be treated as defects.

OAK BRACKET SHELVES

FAQ's

Can I have a bespoke size?

To order a custom length please order the next length up and leave a note in checkout to cut down to your required size.

Unfortunately we are unable to make the depth of our bracket shelves bespoke as the metal brackets come in specific size. Please note, ordering a bespoke length will make the shelves none-returnable.

How many brackets will my shelf come with?

Shelves less than 168cm long come with 2 brackets. 168cm and longer comes with 3 brackets.

Can these shelves be fitted to plasterboard walls?

We have products made especially for pasteboard walls so if you are fixings solely into plasterboard walls please make sure the product says "for plasterboard walls" in the title. These shelves come with GripIt fixings for fixing the metal brackets into plasterboard between 9-15mm thick.

What colour are the brackets?

The metal brackets are an unfinished raw steel. This gives them a beautiful dark gunmetal appearance.

Can I return my shelves?

If you order a size from our website you can return your shelves to us for a full refund within 30 days. Please email us to start the returns process. Returns are organised and paid for by the customer. If you request bespoke alteration such as changing the length, this will make the shelves none-returnable.

How are the shelves finished?

To achieve our beautiful range of colour finishes, the shelves are finished in a coat of stain followed by a coat of wax polish for extra durability.

Where are the brackets positioned?

You can choose the location of the brackets yourself during fitting, allowing you to achieve the look you require.

Oak Colour Finishes

Our premium range of wood stains, waxes and oils have been hand selected to enhance and protect the natural beauty of oak, creating a deep, rich, luxurious finish.

Our stains penetrate deep into the oak and provide long-lasting colour, while our waxes seal and protect, leaving a velvety feel that ages gracefully over time. The finish will highlight the unique grain and introduce depth of colour and character that each beautiful piece of oak deserves.
