We’re excited to announce that we are now manufacturing solid oak floating shelves! Made from the finest quality kiln dried European oak and handcrafted in our North Yorkshire based workshop, these oak floating shelves are the real deal and made to last a lifetime!
As with our oak fireplace beams, we are offering a wide range of size and colour variations. Floating shelves are available in standard thicknesses of 35mm and 50mm. Depths from 150mm – 300mm and lengths up to 2.2m. These are just our standard sizes, we can make floating shelves to pretty much any size you require! We’re offering a generous 9 colour variations to choose from, at Traditional Beams we only use the finest quality British made wax’s and oils. There is even the option to either leave the shelf with it’s natural edge intact.
As we make our floating shelves to order, our ‘made to measure’ service is free of charge! We can make shelves to exact sizes, which is particularly important when fitting shelves into alcoves. Instructions on how to order bespoke size shelves can be found in the product descriptions.
Our oak floating shelves are supplied with high quality Hafele’s concealed shelf supports which are suitable for fixing to stone, brick, breeze block and stud walls where timber uprights can be located. Professionally machined holes are drilled into the back of the shelf to accept the bracket. For a more substantial fixing method, alcove shelves can be supplied with matching battens; they are fixed on the three sides of the alcove for the shelf to sit on.
Unlike many of our competitors, we use high quality kiln dried European oak to manufacturer our floating shelves. We’ve teamed up with various French oak sawmills who can offer a consistent supply of high quality kiln dried oak perfect for our requirements. This means that we’re extremely confident when we say, these floating shelves are here to stay!
