Description
Solid European Oak Stair Treads
Our solid European oak stair treads are manufactured by us from high-quality, sustainably sourced European oak, offering a beautiful, durable and timeless finish for new staircases and renovation projects.
Each solid oak stair tread measures 250mm deep and 100mm thick and is carefully manufactured by laminating individual pieces of solid oak together. The treads are cut to length and sanded to a smooth finish, ready for installation and finishing.
Our stair treads are supplied sanded and unfinished, so they must be oiled before use to protect the timber and enhance the natural beauty of the oak. Customers can oil the treads themselves using a suitable wood oil, following the manufacturer's application and curing instructions.

Installation & Care
Our solid oak stair treads are supplied sanded, but they must be oiled before use to provide the timber with the necessary protection.
Before Installation & Use
- Oil before use: The stair treads must be treated with a suitable wood oil before they are used. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the oil supplied/recommended, including application and drying times.
- Allow to cure: Ensure the oil has fully dried and cured according to the oil manufacturer's instructions before allowing regular foot traffic.
- Professional installation recommended: Stair treads should be installed by a suitably qualified or experienced tradesperson who can ensure they are correctly measured, fitted and securely fixed.
- Allow for natural movement: Solid oak is a natural material and can respond to changes in temperature and humidity. Appropriate installation methods should allow for normal timber movement.
Maintenance
Maintenance
Caring for Your Solid Oak Stair Treads
- Regular cleaning: Vacuum or sweep regularly to remove dirt and grit that can cause surface wear.
- Clean with a damp cloth: Use a well-wrung damp cloth and a mild, wood-safe cleaning product when needed. Avoid soaking the timber.
- Avoid harsh cleaners: Do not use bleach, abrasive cleaners or products containing ammonia, as these can damage the finish and oak.
- Wipe up spills: Clean up water and other spills promptly to prevent staining or moisture damage.
- Re-oil when required: As the stairs are naturally exposed to regular foot traffic, the oil finish will gradually wear. Re-oil the treads when they begin to look dry, dull or less protected. High-traffic areas may require this more frequently.
- Protect the surface: Avoid dragging heavy or sharp objects across the treads, which can scratch or mark the oak.
- Allow the finish to cure: If the treads have recently been oiled, follow the instructions for the specific oil used and allow sufficient curing time before heavy use.
Important: Solid oak is a natural material and will develop character over time. Small changes in colour, grain and appearance are a natural part of owning a genuine oak staircase.

WORKTOPS
FAQ's
Can I have a bespoke size?
Yes! All of our worktops are handmade to order, so feel free to get in touch with the size you need and we will be able to provide you a quote.
What are wortops finished in?
We can offer a wide range of durable finishes. From heavy duty lacquer which is great for commercial spaces to oiled worktops. If you have a preference get in touch and we can offer something more bespoke to your needs.
Do you offer a fitting service?
Our competitive prices are supply only. Unfortunately we do not have a fitting service.
Where is your Oak from?
We only ever buy oak from sawmills in Europe that follow sustainable practises.
What type of character can I expect to find in my worktop?
We use character grade oak. With this you can expect some cracks and knots (especially in larger pieces) as part of the beautiful characteristics of the wood. We then hand sand and finish our worktops.
What is your returns policy?
As our window boards and worktops are a highly bespoke product, returns are not accepted. We cannot accept any responsibility for the incorrect installation or damaged caused during the installation process.
How do I order?
If there is no option to add the item you want to your basket, email us at info@traditionalbeams.com or use or enquire form above and we can offer you a quote and take the order for you.
