Whether you can’t find a babysitter or would rather avoid being so close to another couple in a restaurant that you can hear all the sweet nothings they whisper to each other, staying in on Valentine’s Day is definitely the new going out.
Create a romantic atmosphere by decorating your oak mantel shelf with love-themed items. Think heart-shaped bunting, rose petals and of course the obligatory bunch of red roses.
For an even more dazzling display, string some flickering flame lights along your oak mantel shelf.
There is nothing more romantic than sitting chatting and drinking wine with your other half in front of a flickering fire. Who needs extravagant gestures and expensive restaurants when you have a fire crackling beside you, as you relax with a glass of your favourite tipple?
Unless you’re lucky enough to live somewhere warm, a picnic outdoors on Valentine’s Day will probably be a big no-no (if you want your relationship to survive until 15th February anyway!).
