Incorporating oak into your home
by Amen Sharma

We’ve covered the reasons why you should be bringing oak into your home in our previous blog post, but how exactly can you go about it?
Flooring
If you’re looking to make an impact, engineered oak flooring is the best way to do it. It works just as well in living rooms as it does in bedrooms and hallways and it immediately brings a sense of quality and sophistication to any room. You can dress it up with a shaggy rug for a more glamorous look or let the flooring itself do the talking if your taste is more minimal.
Furniture
From dining table sets to side tables, there are a range of options when it comes to solid oak furniture. Not only do they make striking additions to any home, they’ll last you for the years to come thanks to oak’s hardwearing properties. You can rest assured that they won’t be going out of fashion anytime soon – it’s a timeless material. We stock a selection of handmade oak furniture including cross leg and side tables.
Structural Beams
You might be one of the lucky few who’ve bought a house with beams already. If not, you can always incorporate them. Whether you’re building a new house and need to add structural beams for practical purposes or you’ve got a characterful cottage that need a decorative feature, there’s no better way to incorporate oak in your home than with structural oak beams.
Shelves
For a more modern home, oak shelving is ideal. Big expanses of an empty wall can feel cold and uninviting so it’s often necessary to break them up and what better way to do it than with some floating oak shelves? The classic wooden tones provide a striking contrast to most colour schemes and you can also decorate them with trinkets, lights and other accessories.
Oak Beam Surrounds
Another way to add interest to a plain, unfinished fireplace is with an oak fire surround. Again they’re a great way to draw attention to your fireplace and they are just as easily accessorised as shelves. As with our oak fireplace beams you can take advantage of the huge number of variations we offer as standard.
Whether you’re going for a hearty wooden look that carries through the whole house or you just want to add a simple touch of oak here and there, these are just some of the ways you can incorporate oak into your home. However you decide to do it, you can rest assured you’ll be making a worthwhile investment too!
