How to use oak worktops to create something spectacular in your home

Oak worktops are a really simple but effective way to transform your living space. As well as looking great, they are durable, timeless and can even be re-sanded and re-finished if you fancy a change in the future.
Oak worktops for your kitchen
This is perhaps the most obvious use of oak worktops, which is why we’ve mentioned it first. Using natural wood worktops in your kitchen can bring a real warmth to the room and give you a classic kitchen which will never go out of fashion.
What’s more, as they are very tough, you will be enjoying them for many years to come. Plus, as we touched on above, if you feel your kitchen is getting a little tired, you could simply re-sand the worktops and finish them in a new shade. This willgive the room a whole new lease of life.
Use oak worktops to build your own bar
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, many of us are spending more time at home than ever before. Installing a bar area in your home, where you can enjoy a drink with friends and family (while remaining socially distant, if necessary), is a nice alternative to heading down to the pub.
An old chest of drawers topped with an oak worktop, is a really simple way of building your own bar at home. Add a few bar stools, some shelves behind displaying your favourite tipples and voila!
Use leftover worktop to make matching chopping boards
Make a matching bread board with any offcuts you have of your oak worktop. If you’ve bought a worktop and need to cut out space for a sink, for example, the piece of wood you have leftover can easily be transformed into something to cut your food on.
Oak worktops can be used to re-cover a tired table
If your dining table is looking a little worse for wear, you can use a piece of oak worktop to re-cover it.
You could even buy some legs online and make yourself a little oak worktop coffee table. Your imagination is the only limit!
Worktops can also be used to create new chair seat ‘pads’.
