5 reasons why you should buy an oak beam in time for Halloween

Sweets for trick or treaters – check. Suitably scary outfit for your child/dog/yourself – check. Oak beam for your fireplace – wait, what?

While it may sound a little strange to buy yourself an oak mantel for halloween, there are actually some very good reasons why you should be doing exactly that. In this post, we’ll take a look at just 5 of them.

1) A fireplace mantel is the perfect place to create a Halloween-themed display

An oak fireplace beam is the ideal location to fashion a spooky Halloween scene. Think toy spiders dangling from a mass of fake web dotted with other strange-looking insects.

Add a few candles (remember to put them in holders so you don’t set fire to your cobwebs) and you have a spooktastic scene to freak out your family and friends.

2) Make your fireplace your Halloween party centrepiece

Forget table centrepieces or life-sized blow-up zombies. A fireplace with a roaring fire makes the best focal point for your ghostly gathering.

Your decorated oak beam will add to the atmosphere, of course.

3) Spooky stories around the fire

It’s not halloween without telling terrifying tales in a room only lit by a few flickering flames. Of course, if you don’t have a fireplace, you can make do without. But a crackling fire and fake creepy crawlies hanging off your oak beam, can make the atmosphere all the more eerie.

4) Make your oak fireplace beam part of your ghostly tales…

As a hard wood, your oak beam should last for many, many years. Indeed, a solid oak beam can easily last for hundreds of years.

Make your oak beam the central element to your spine-tingling stories. What will your oak beam see in the future? What could happen in this very room after you and your family have moved house?

You could even tell tales about where the oak tree was located. What did the oak tree witness? Was the forest where it came from haunted?

Your imagination is the only limit!

5) Now is the best time to order your oak beam

As the nights draw in and we head at full speed towards Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas, we’re likely to be spending more and more time cozying up indoors, in front of our wood burning stoves.

Having an oak beam on your fireplace is a wonderful way to really finish it off. Plus, it’s a great place to make seasonal displays.

Here at Traditional Beams, we stock a comprehensive range of oak beams to suit every home.
