How We Care For The Planet
by Rebecca Armstrong

Here at Traditional Beams, our Eco Policy, details how we make sure that everything we do is done sustainably and always with the well-being of planet Earth at the forefront of our minds.
With the effects of climate change already visible across the globe, it is important that we all do our bit to help protect and care for the planet that we call home.
0% Wood Waste target achieved!
We’re all living on a planet with finite resources. This is why we felt we had a duty to ensure that nothing goes to waste. Over the past few years, we have been working towards ensuring that not one piece of wood is thrown away in our manufacturing process – an eco-friendly approach.
We are proud to say that we have finally achieved our goal!
We compress the wood shavings that are created during the manufacturing process into high-density briquettes, which can be used on barbecues, wood-burning stoves or fire pits.
The offcuts are utilised as fuel for our biomass system, which provides hot water and heat for our workshops and offices.
Both systems involved substantial financial investments but we think they’re worth it, as they have really helped us to work in an even more environmentally friendly way.
Our timber is only sourced from FSC or PEFC certified sawmills
Of course, it would be no good to do all this work if we sourced wood from suppliers who didn’t care about the planet as much as we do. That’s why all of our wood comes from sawmills who carry FSC or PEFC certification.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit, non governmental organisation and is the world’s most trusted sustainable forest management solution. Only forests that meet their strict standards are certified.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is also a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, which promotes sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification.
We use cardboard packaging wherever possible
And if we have to use plastic, we use foam rolls made from fully-recyclable CFC-free polyethylene.
Plus, we shred all of our waste cardboard to use as void fill in our packages.
To the future and beyond…
Our mission is to operate in the most environmentally friendly way possible, in order to help protect the planet for future generations.
We believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to look after Earth, which is why we put our money where our mouth is and invested in our 0% wood wastage goal.
