5 Ways To Cozy Up Your Home

5 ways to cozy up your home
As the nights draw in and temperatures take a nose dive, a room that only a few weeks ago felt light and airy may now lack that essential ‘cozy factor’ to make winter that little bit more bearable. If you’re feeling the chill, we’ll take a look how everything from oak fireplace beams to candle arrangements can help to get your home feeling snug again.
1) Nothing says cozy like a roaring fire
Wood burning stoves have seen a resurgence in popularity over the past few years and for good reason.
Spending your evenings snuggled on the sofa in front of a roaring fire is the definition of coziness.
Installing a wood burning stove may seem like an unnecessary luxury when most of us already have central heating, but not only can a wood burning stove help to cut the cost of your gas bill, you could also cook your dinner on it. Win, win.
2) An oak fireplace beam is a wonderful way to add warmth
Having natural materials like wood in your home can help to add a feeling of warmth.
An oak mantel above your fireplace is a really easy way to add wood to your room. Plus, an oak fireplace beam is a great place to make a seasonal display. Which brings us neatly to our next point…
3) Candle displays = cozy
Flickering candles create a lovely warm glow in a room.
Your fireplace beam is the perfect place to create a candle display. Instead of using clear glass jars to put your candles in, you could try coloured glass in autumnal shades to create a delicate, warm glow.
4) Comfy throws
Creating coziness isn’t just a matter of adding one or two things to your room. That feeling of warmth is created by adding layers of different things.
Adding a few comfy throws to your home is one of the best ways to create a feeling of coziness. Drape one throw over the arm of your sofa and fold another and place it on the shelf under your coffee table.
5) You can never have too many cushions
Add more cushions to your sofa to create a feeling of warmth and luxury. A faux fur cushion or two dotted amongst your other cushions, can not only help to create coziness, but they are lovely to snuggle up with.
Now, imagine all of these elements together. A roaring fire in your wood burner, flickering candles on your oak fireplace mantel, you wrapped in a comfy throw, curled amongst your cushions, reading a good book or watching your favourite film, glass of wine in hand. What could be better?
