Five Things That Should Be On Your Christmas List

With all of the unseasonably warm weather we’ve enjoyed this autumn (we bet you’ve not had many opportunities to sit in front of the fire, admiring your oak beam yet), it’s hard to believe that it’s now only just over 5 weeks to go until the big day.

That means it’s time to get ahead of the rush and start your Christmas shopping, if you haven’t done so already. But what are the must-have items that you should be adding to your 2018 Christmas list?

1) A wood-burning stove

OK, so this isn’t something that you can pick up in your local supermarket, but nothing says Christmas quite like snuggling up in your onesie, in front of the fire, cradling a glass of mulled wine.

A wood-burning stove isn’t just for Christmas, either. Using a wood-burning stove to heat your home could help you to save money on your utility bills over the winter season. Plus, if you have a power cut, you won’t be without heat.

2) A solid oak beam

Installing an oak mantel on your fireplace will not only look good, but it will also act as the perfect place to put seasonal decorations. Think fake foliage dotted with twinkling fairy lights.

We may be biased, but we don’t think Christmas is Christmas without an oak fireplace mantel.

And, even better, you don’t have to leave the house and brave the cold weather to get one. You can buy your oak beam directly from our website and have it delivered to your home.

3) Christmas jumpers

The amazingly Christmas jumper doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. These festive fineries are an essential part of Christmas Day.

Just don’t forget to invest in a suitably festive t-shirt to go underneath, too. There’s something about wearing a knitted jumper, while eating a large Christmas dinner, that makes us feel a little queasy.

4) Christmas Day board games

It may seem a little old fashioned in the days of gaming consoles and Netflix, but there’s nothing like a good board game to stave off the Christmas Day cabin-fever-fuelled family arguments.

5) Profiter’coals

We couldn’t complete a Christmas list without mentioning festive food.

One of our favourite foods this year is Heston’s Profiter’Coals at Waitrose. Profiteroles masquerading as little pieces of coal, with a bright orange sauce (and filling) that makes them look like they are covered in glowing embers. Plus there’s popping candy. What’s not to like?
