With Easter only a couple of weeks away, now is the time to start planning how you’ll decorate your solid oak beam for the long weekend full of springtime celebrations. We’ve put together some of our favourite Easter trends for 2019 to help get you started.

Make the Easter bunny the star of your solid oak beam

Easter wouldn’t be Easter without a bunny surrounded by eggs (that must be one of our weirder traditions). Forget a life-like rabbit and go for an understated white ceramic version. This will give your Easter theme that neutral Nordic look, a key trend for this year.

As for size, go as big as you can find (within reason!) – this is going to be the centrepiece on your solid oak beam.

Spring flowers are a key part of the look

After a weirdly warm February, chances are that there will be limited daffodils available by the time Easter comes around this year.

Tulips, on the other hand, should still be in full bloom. Go for bright white tulips, if you can, to complement your white bunny centrepiece.

Place the tulips in a white jug and put this on the left or right side of your oak beam.

Balance out the other side with a large white candle placed in a glass vase. Simple but very effective.

Greenery from your garden

Now that you have your white rabbit and tulips, it’s time to add some greenery to tie in the rest of your fireplace beam with the green stalks of your flowers.

There’s no nicer feeling than heading out into your garden and clipping some foliage to decorate your home. It’s also a great way to save money.

Take some ivy and some conifer (or any other greenery that you think would look nice). Weave it along your solid oak beam and around your jug, bunny and vase. So that your decorations last the weekend, it’s a good idea to do this the day before Good Friday.

If you’re feeling extra creative, you could even use your greenery to make a homemade wreath with a metal coat hanger (bend it into a circle to give you your wreath form to tie the greenery to), to hang above your solid oak beam.

Add a pop of colour to your solid oak beam with a pastel-shade egg garland

You can buy a string of pastel-coloured eggs fairly cheaply from many different shops on the high street at this time of year.

Alternatively, you could get the family involved and make an ‘egg’ garland by cutting out and painting cardboard eggs, then threading them onto a string.

Your solid oak beam is now ready for Easter 2019!

Decorating your fireplace beam is a great way to get your home ready for any kind of festivities.
